More to say, and better to say. What?

I dont know.

Either-way, I thought I has better write a more relevant party entry before I forget the details. The last post was a reflection on my feelings on the event, while this will be an more detailed account of what actually took place. That not to say that his will be a very exciting read, with dirty details of what transpired when Markus and haze disappeared around the side of the house, or when Matthew and I took refuge in the garage, just for a little quiet time.... it sounds saucy, but I can say for certain that Matt and I behaved ourselves.

So then. I Started work in the early hours of the morning, in order to justify leaving at 11:00am.... Ended up leaving at 11:15 and got home 35 minutes later. Tracy had already begun preparing finger foods and such, and had obviously spent a fair bit of time cleaning (not that the place was particularly dirty or anything).

My first task was to vacuum the house and mop the bathroom/laundry/toilet. I though the vacuuming was a little overkill... after all, we were expecting many many people, all of whom were due to enter the house via the sandy front entrance... None the less I proceeded to use the Dyson and was shocked at the amount of 'stuff' that ended up in its little see-through plastic bucket thing. I had, after all, vacuumed the house only a few days earlier. Houses really are dirty places :-)

The first guest to arrive was Michelle, at around 13:00. Her BF did not arrive until several hours later, having to get some sleep in before commencing his nightshift. She helped Tracy with the little sandwiches, and showed us her expressive creative side by displaying them in interesting patterns...yes. She then went on to practice her Wii Sport Tennis, to ensure that she would be nice and warmed up by the time the Wii virgins arrived. Tracy too had a bit of a warmup, for fear of getting beaten by the said virgins.

People (other than Michelle) started rolling in a little after 1430... mostly Tracy and Michelle's work-friends. I get along nicely with them, but its always difficult when a bunch of work people are together, and you find yourself unable to participate in conversation. I left them to their devices, and their gossip :-)

All of the sudden, a group of my guests turned up within 10 minutes of each other. I found myself in quite a spin as I was trying to conduct house-tours for the people that had already arrived, while welcoming the new comers and trying to make them feel semi-comfortable in a room filled with semi-strangers :-)

Chris, my parents, Steven & Abbey (and kids), Markus, Kelly and the twins, Judith and Jen arrived before 1530 (I think) Things were going quite well at this point, though we had already run out of seats... people seemed quite happy to stand and enjoy a drink. I personally hate standing, so this left me feeling a little... tiny bit worried.

Markus made the most wonderful chocolate cake for us.. it was fantastic and got rave reviews from everyone :-) The cake is visually documented in my previous journal entry. Please have a look.

The cutting of the cake took place a little after 16:40, but not before the crowd forced me to deliver some manner of speech... I was not prepared for this at all and initially tried to pass that responsibility to Trace... which I quickly recognised as being impossible. As such I quickly said a few words.... I cant really remember what it was, though I recall going through friend-types and such, thanking everyone for coming and helping to bring life and memories into our home. I must say - I did enjoy having the place filled with people.

Moments after the the speech was made, and the cutting began, haze arrived. I was happy to see him, but wished he'd arrived 10 minutes earlier. No harm done.. he bought Little Creatures :-)

I gave silent contemplation to the friends that could not be there.... though also though about Matty (not Matthew)... Matty - Where the hell where you? You said you'd turn up! Grrrh.

By 1700 I was basically walking from one group to another, trying to give everyone a decent amount of time... I dont think I arrived this, though gave it a good shot. There were people in the backyard, on the couches in the lounge room, sitting around the table (with the food) in the dining area, while the Parents, Markus, Matt & Jess took refuge in the Media room. My parents were quite content to watch the Eagles game... a dream that was shattered at half time, when I thought it would be fun to let some people play the Wii for 30 min. After 30 min, my parents realised that the game would not be coming back on, as the Wii virgins were having way too much fun and no one wanted to interrupt their excitement. Sadly the parents left at that point, though I cant blame them... the place was getting very noisy indeed.

So haze, Markus and I sat outside and waited for the Nursing ladies (bless them) to grow tired of the Wii... at one point they were playing Wii Sport Boxing, which resulted in screaming, the likes of which I have not heard in a long time. From the outside, it sounded like there were 100's of people watching a famous horse race with plenty of money on it... the squeals..... the horror... the horror... :-)

We suddenly felt peckish and thought it would be nice to pick up some pizza.. this would also give the ladies time to grow weary of the Wii... once again, not so. They were still at it when we got back.... strongly. So we decided to head to Mt Lawley for a coffee, assuming that this would definitely give them enough time to finish.... and it was. But only just. The last person was only just leaving as we pulled back into the driveway. In honour of the screams we heard earlier, we decided to spend the time driving to and from the Globe hollering along to Roxette.... it was crazy and left my throat bleeding... twas worth it though :-)

Finally the time for Mario Party 8 was at hand. We played a 20 turn game, and called it a night. It was fun, but we were all tired... we called it a night just after 0115.

I'm tired now and wish to sleep.

All the best,

Peter
