Veneer.... its all I talk about these days....

Little other than Mario Party 5 is currently dominating my life.... I joke. In truth, I have not been playing it anywhere near as much as I would like, but that’s just the way it goes. I always get pissed off when playing it, but I generally have a good time and it’s a great way to finish off the day.

About 2 weeks ago, I started my Wii Sport fitness regime, which demands that I do at least 20 minutes of Wii Sport Boxing, as well as the daily Wii fitness program. I managed to comply with my demands for about a week, but have since faltered in my efforts. I blame the fact that I worked 12 hour days all of last week, and I was not in the mood to do physical tasks upon coming home at night.

Not that I am complaining about the OT that I've been doing... far from it. It's paying off for me. The OT has allowed me to buy the Veneer that I wanted, without feeling too bad about the money I spent on it. I ended up going for the Jarrah. Feel free to have a look at it here --> Worldwide Timber Traders - Natural Veneer.

I borrowed the Ute from Adrian on Saturday, and Tracy and I drove down to Bibra Lakes to pick up the goods. It took about 70 minutes to get there from our place, so I was a little annoyed that the place was closed.... especially considering that I was planning to do veneering for the whole weekend.... also the reason I took Saturday off work, allowing me a full 3 days to get it done... So, to make the trip not feel fully pointless, we went to Bunnings to buy some other supplies. Namely brushes, undercoat, adhesive and lacquer.. We also enjoyed a tasty sub at the subway (almost) next door. So many details.

From there, we headed back up the freeway, with the view to buy a new Keyboard (my 1 year old gave up the ghost the night before.. I have no idea why) from PLE in Wangara. Since we were heading all the way up there, we thought we might as well have a look at our house, to see if there was any progress... there was none. We then went to the computer store for the keyboard... there were none.. Apparently they sold the last one mere minutes ago. Good times.

We then drove to Ellenbrook to have a look at a friends block, and then headed home. We basically spent the whole day driving around, and all we had to show for it was some stuff from Bunnings, which we could have picked up 5 minutes down the road. Glorious!

Anyway, this dribbling on is getting too lengthy, so I shall get to the semi-point - > I ended up buying the Veneer on Monday... On that day we also went to Fremantle for Breakfast, Spotlight in Cannington, Midland, Joondalup and Osborne Park, as well as Ikea... it was a very busy day on the road again.

Going back one day - Tracy and I went to Fremantle on Sunday, and had a Pizza, some fries and beer at Little Creatures. I love that place. Great beer and food, and a nice atmosphere. Not a bad place to spend Sunday afternoon.

Back to the Veneer - Yesterday haze and I measured out the pieces and cut up the first of the two pieces of Veneer. Each sheet is 2.4m x 1.2m, which made it a little hard to work with at first... furthermore, the Veneer cost $300, so I was a little nervous. Either way, we did a very good job, and I hope to do an equally good job with the second piece... I will probably hold off with the actual gluing of the stuff until the weekend, but I feel better knowing that the pieces are cut and ready to go.

I will upload some photos of the progress when I get home.. either today or tomorrow.

I'm going further OT this week, in order to get the money together to buy a Cambridge Audio 640R (though I'm still giving some thought to the Yamaha RX-V1700
