aussiepoida - Thumbs Down

The bliss of working....

I'm normally quite content with my work... there are generally highs and 'normals', but not usually lows.

...at the moment however, I feel like I'm in a complete low. The Citizenship Taskforce that I was a part of has concluded, and I have moved back into my substantive role in eVisa.

I find it difficult to really accept that I am back here on a 'permanent' basis... I've been off on little side projects and other adventures for the past 9 months, and barely feel like I below in eVisa at all... the fact that they've had huge staffing changes, as well as some policy interpretation changes, has left me feeling a little like a fish out of water.

I must remain reasonably neutral about what I say about my work. Overall, I like this department... it really does some fantastic work for people in Australia and around the world... internally however, things are just crazy. Things have been happening lately that have heavily eroded my confidence in the organisational structure... and more importantly, confidence in the internal job-filling process. 'The Right People in the Right Jobs' is a popular slogan here.... people used to use that expression as a little joke when people made mistakes. I've come to realise lately that associating that slogan with this department - that's the real joke.

I'm glad that the department truly does do tremendous work which is beneficial to a lot of people... it’s a shame it’s not as pretty from the inside.

Cheers

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Hello again.

It’s hard to believe that I've owned a Wii, together with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for more than half a year now... Now that I think about it, that’s not that hard to believe. But what I find hard to believe is that I waited this long to actually play Zelda.

Previously, I was occupying my Wii time with Wii Sports, Wii Play, The Godfather: Blackhand Edition, and not forgetting the fantastic selection of classic games on the Wii Virtual Console...how very much I love them :P

For some reason I was putting Zelda off... I have no idea why. Last weekend however, I finally devoted some time to it and broke through the 3 hour playtime mark. Now, I love it. As a matter of fact, it has been a very long time since I've had as much fun playing a single-player game as I am now :-)

I will, no doubt, write more about this topic later... for now, let me just say this - All Wii owners out there who have not played this game should go out and buy a copy right now! Maybe I'm over-reacting... maybe it’s just been too long since I've played a good game (most probably)... but maybe I'm right in saying that it’s a fantastic game and deserves to be played by all! haze.... go buy!

Cheers

PS: Please take my excited approval of this product with a grain of salt… those that know me, know what I get a little crazy when I find something I like… but this does not mean that everyone will like it as much.
